| It seems likely that Robert Leadley was not born in Whitby. No trace of a baptism has been found for him. In 1778 he married Ann Pescod at St Mary's in Whitby and they had 7 children. Robert was a ship's carpenter and worked on the ships that hunted whales. Robert was a mate aboard the 'Ocean' in 1787 and a line manager on the 'Volunteer'. |
