Burial Ref: Larpool Cemetery. John and wife Mary Ann are buried at Larpool Cemetery, Grave No 999. At the time of his death, he was at Stockton-on-Tees. His body was brought back to Whitby for burial. He was a master; address in Whitby was Normandby Terrace. Burial ceremony performed by Rev WM Keane.
Headstone Inscription: In affectionate remembrance of John Leadley, shipowner who died August 5th 1871, aged 44 years. 'Here we have no continuing city.' Grave No 999.
In the same grave are wife Mary Ann, daughter Eleanor Jane and five children who died in infancy.
