Laidler Family History

Robert and Ann were the parents of James Laidler (b1802) of Whitby and later Middlesborough. James and Jane Donkin's son, James (b1829) emigrated to Victoria, Australia during the goldrush of the 1850s and married Bridget Halloran in 1859. Their son James Matthew (b1863) and wife Georgina Rose Hart had a daughter and three sons. All their sons died between 1911-1916, including William Matthew (b1888) who perished on the Somme. William and Wilhemina Young's son Patrick William (b1916) joined the RAAF and died in an accident in 1944. Patrick and Veenie Matson's son, Barry William (b1940) also joined the RAAF and trained as a radar technician.
